Ray has served with Fire District 47 since 1992. He has held many roles including Firefighter, EMT, President of the Volunteers Association and currently as an Engineer operating the pumps and other mechanical equipment at calls.

Ray was elected Commissioner in the 2013 election and sworn in on January, 2014.
